According to what was informed by Vatican Insider, around 800 young christians of Alepo gathered during two days at the Salesian center in their city, wich was still divided by the fire line betwen the "loyalists" and the rebels in order to keep standing upon the choice of the christian community resistance.
In the entire country, more than 200,000 christians have had to run away from their homes. Other hundreds of thousands are refugees at what is being called "the christians valley" by the shores of the Mediterranean, in order to scape from cities or areas of high risk.
They suffer desecration of churches, constant attacks to the believers and murder of religious people. The most affected cities, besides Alepo, have been Homs and the surroundings of Damascus.
The tension in many christian locations is so harsh that the false alarms are happening everyday, often leading people to run away and then when they come back, they find their homes looted by criminal groups.
The christians in Syria represent 10% of the 23 million inhabitants of the country, and as a minority, they have always supported the politics of another minority of the country, the "Alawites" (sect of the president Bashar Alasad), what turns them into a target wich is not only religious but also political.
They fear having the same destiny of the Iraqi christian communities who, since 2003, have turned into a target of the slamic extremists who keep on hitting the christian minority in Irak through terrorist attacks, murders and several sorts of prejudicial actions. The result has been the complete exodus of thousands of families.
